There are two main steps in the beard growth journey are the most important because they allow you to narrow down your options and make it easier for you to choose a style that suits you perfectly.

Step 1:
Grow out your beard for a month (at least)
Before you figure out your preferred style, you need to know what you can pull off depending on your hair texture and general growth.
In context:
Man A grows thick and full hair
Man B grows thin, patchy hair
These men’s hair growth could be based on many factors including diet, genes or beard care. Assuming these textures and lengths are based on genes, then neither of these men can control this hair growth however, they can choose the beard style that works for them. Diet and beard care go a long way in improving and strengthening beard health, however, genes seem to be the biggest determinant.
Man A would be better off rocking a full beard and will have more options in terms of styling and shaping.
Man B would have a hard time growing a full beard with this texture. He would be well advised to keep his beard short and stick to styles like stubble or goatee (mainly because the patchiness is almost always around the cheeks).
A month of growing your beard (without shaving or trimming) will be more than enough to figure out your texture and length.
Step 2:
Consider the shape of your face
Once you know your length and texture, you will need to figure out your face shape. Most faces fall under 6 categories. These are oval, round, square, triangle, rectangle and diamond as explained below.
If you can’t pinpoint exactly where you fall under these categories, you can pick the one that you feel most defines your face shape.
